The studio

CREW Scenografie is the workshop of Giovanni Sanniola, set designer and builder since 2000. He has built sets for productions by Saverio Costanzo, Mario Martone, Marco Bellocchio and Gabriele Salvatores, and for the stages of Teatro Bellini and the San Carlo. Today he brings the same care to theatre companies, productions and events all over Italy and Europe.

We go through the project with the director and production, measure the stage or set, and agree budget and schedule.

02 · Drawing

Sketch and working drawings

Sketches, ground plan and construction drawings. If the design is by another designer, we turn it into working drawings.

03 · Construction

Off-site or on site

Wood and steel carpentry, sculpture, scenic painting. In the workshop or directly on site.

04 · Installation

On stage

Transport, installation in the theatre or on set, and support during rehearsals, shooting and performances.

Giovanni Sanniola

Set designer and builder, trained in scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2000 he has built sets for theatre, film and television: from the sets of L'amica geniale, Esterno notte and Napoli - New York to the production design of Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo's short films.

The studio

Over twenty-five years of sets.

CREW Scenografie is the workshop founded by Giovanni Sanniola, set designer and builder. Trained in scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts, building sets since 2000.

Biography

Giovanni Sanniola is a set designer and builder. Trained in scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts, since 2000 he has built sets for theatre, film and television, in the workshop and directly on stage.

He has worked as a set builder and props maker on productions by Saverio Costanzo (L'amica geniale), Marco Bellocchio, Mario Martone and Gabriele Salvatores, and in theatre for the San Carlo, Teatro Bellini and Massimo Ranieri. As production designer he has signed the short films of Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo, including La Scelta - The Choice, presented at Venice 76. In 2026 he is head of construction on the film House of Gonzaga.
